Course content

The course is directed to the use of research methodologies and insights developed in the field of legal history. In the first part of the course, the scientific discipline of legal history and its subdisciplines will be presented and analysed. In the second part, the doctoral candidates will apply legal historical methodologies and the acquired insights on their own legal research subject, by writing and presenting a legal historical paper.

Learning outcomes

After completing the doctoral course, the doctoral candidates shall have the ability

- to know and understand the scientific discipline of legal history in all its variety

- to know and understand the methodologies and insights of legal history

- to apply the methodologies and insights of legal history upon their own legal research
